Nuclear Cowboyz

Imagine the offspring of a marriage between Freestyle Motorcross and Broadway. Combine pryo, rock and roll, hot girls, 75 ft backflips and a battle between good and evil, and you've got the 2010 Nuclear Cowboyz tour. Fuel TV and Feld Motor Sports tapped the ChopShop crew to go behind the scenes during rehearsals at the Los Angeles Sport Arena to take a look at how this 15-city tour would play out. Get a taste of the world's best freestyle riders as they challenge gravity in this 2 hour choreographed show.

The Drifter

Hurley teamed with pro surfing legend Rob Machado and respected filmmaker Taylor Steele to create "The Drifter," an amazing epic set in the beautiful islands of Indonesia. ChopShop was called on by FUEL TV to produce a Blue Carpet Special world premiere of Rob's surf-Zen film creation. Shot with the Red Camera and edited over a 2 year period, here's a taste of the movie and behind-the-scenes footage.

First Hand: Brian Grubb

"First Hand," FUEL TV's premiere series, was the destination for this half-hour program showcasing pro wakeskater Brian Grubb and friends. The ChopShop crew shot in multiple locations from Orlando to Seattle and followed Brian's sweet life at work on the water. Stunning footage takes this show over the top.

Street Dreams

The legendary Grauman's Chinese Theater and Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel played host to the Hollywood Premiere of "Street Dreams" and ChopShop was there to produce a half-hour special for Fuel TV. Among the celebrities on hand were the film's stars Terry Kennedy, "P Rod," Ryan Dunn and Adam Wily along with Director Chris Zamocianyk and Executive Producers Rob Dyrdek, Sal Masekela and Jason Bergh.

Ultimate Boarder Championship

The Ultimate Boarder Championship is just that... the ultimate surf, skate and snow competition held annually in Big Bear and Ventura, CA. This triathlon of action sports defines the best in all-around boarders and ChopShop was there to produce an amazing one-hour special for FUEL TV. Here's a taste of the event that hosts the best young guns and veteran riders as they vie for big prize money and bragging rights in this week-long event.

Bra Boys

FUEL TV asked us to produce and edit the highly anticipated North American Premiere of "Bra Boys" narrated by Russell Crowe in Hollywood, California. Hosts Pat Parnell and Tina Dixon caught up with the crew and cast including Executive Producers Sal Masakela and Jason Bergh, Director Sunny Abberton, Hollywood heavyweight Brian Grazer, and a pack of pro surfers from Australia, America, and Hawaii on the blue carpet at one of the most publicized premieres in surf history.

Bustin Down the Door

We got to hobnob with some of surfing's greatest for the World Premiere of 'Bustin' Down The Door at the Santa Barbara 2008 International Film Festival. 1970s surf legends like Shaun Tomson, Wayne Bartholomew, Peter Townend, Mark Richards, Ian Cairns, and Michael Tomson were on the blue carpet at the largest premiere of the festival. Truly one of the best Blue Carpet Specials we have produced for our friends at FUEL TV.

The Monster Energy Pipeline Pro presented by Billabong is one of the most anticipated surf contests in the Hawaiian Islands. Held at the world famous Banzai Pipeline, the Pipeline Pro brings together WCT stars, Hawaiian legends, pipeline specialists, and competitors from around the globe. We took great pleasure handling the editorial and post for this project, which aired on FUEL TV.

The music of DEVO's Mark Mothersbaugh and innovative touch of Wieden + Kennedy made Nike SB's "Nothing But The Truth" a truly ground breaking skateboard film. Of course the creative approach for FUEL TV's Blue Carpet Special is nothing less. We thoroughly enjoyed putting the pieces together for the premiere of this highly anticipated skate film. The Nike SB team spent over 3 years traveling the globe, gathering skate footage for this, their sophomore skate film effort.

Oakley Stylemasters

The box office hit Mall Cop starring Kevin James premiered in Westwood to a crowd of celebrities, Los Angeles luminaries and a Blue Carpet Special co-produced by ChopShop. Transworld Surf Editor Chris Cote along with Jordan Morris interviewed Kevin James and the other Mall Cop stars for the half-hour show that included pro skateboarders Mike Vallely and Jason Ellis, and BMX pros Mike Escamilla and Rick Thorne, who played the 'bad guys' in the movie.

We happily hopped on a plane to Vegas when asked to cover this year's TransWorld SNOWboarding Riders' Poll Awards. Pat Parnell and Tina Dixon interviewed pros and award winners including Marie-France Roy who won the Reader's Choice Award and Women's Video Part of the Year and Travis Rice - the Stand Out of the Year - and winner of the Readers' Choice Award, Men's Rider of the Year and Men's Video Part of the Year awards.

Wake Lab

Our friends at Red Bull always know how to make an impression. Wake Lab - a floating skatepark in the middle of downtown Orlando's Lake Eloa was no exception. The innovative event presented numerous logistical challenges for both event and production crews. Our 7 camera crew consisted of multiple water angles, high reaches and a jib, all shooting 1080i HD. The final product was a half-hour program that speaks for itself.

AAA Insurance

O'Leary & Partners tapped ChopShop to produce spots for their client AAA Mid-Atlantic. Titled "What's Out There" and "Fender Bender," the tongue-in-cheek spots convey the potential hazards of driving via bumper stickers reading "DUI" and "I Love to Text Will Driving," and road signs including "Side Swiped." Shot with the Red camera, ChopShop provided extensive compositing and editorial.

Rental-Living.com (Precious)

Kids and dogs are usually a production challenge, but in this spot produced for Blue C Advertising our Chihuahua talent had no problem taking direction. The spot displayed high-end still imagery of the Irvine Company rental properties coupled with HD footage we shot on a stage using human as well as canine talent.

Boost Snow

Picture Keir Dillon on the links at La Costa, Alexis Waite at home hanging with her friends in SLC, Danny Kass packing boxes at the Grenade warehouse in Portland, and oh yeah, Dingo in a hot tub in Big Bear surrounded by beautiful women and you'll have the scene for this Boost Mobile TV spot. ChopShop was brought on to assist Boost Mobile with the creative concept, production and post needed to bring this spot to life.

Orange appears to be the color of freedom in this spot for Boost Mobile. We were asked to create and execute a concept for a national 30-second spot that promoted the then new "Unlimited"ݠplan, in which users enjoy unlimited talk and text for one monthly price. The resulting spot mixes live action and animation as the viewer is taken on a fast-paced journey through the dynamic world of Boost Mobile.

We were very happy to assist our friends at Blue C Advertising with concept and execution of this all animated spot for the flat panel and LCD television manufacturer.

Northern Trust Open's Play LA

Team One Advertising, LA tasked ChopShop to produce eighteen consecutive web and viral vignettes all in different locations with celebrities at each stop. Created by Team One to promote the Northern Trust Open Play for LA golf tournament, Celebrities hit golf ball at some of Greater L.A.'s most storied locations- Hollywood sign, Rodeo Drive, Venice Boardwalk, Dodger Stadium, Paramount Studios, City Hall, Olvera Street and more. Notables included Jerry West, Anthony Villaraigosa, Mia Hamm, Nomar Garciaparra and Jordan Farmar hitting putts and drives to benefit their favorite charities.

CYPHER WETSUITS

We had some fun editing a promo video for Cypher Wetsuits that had several viewing destinations, including their website. Cypher collaborated with Universal Music and we cut to the song "Boss" from the group Plus More that's featured on their "2099" album from the Expansion Team label.

Fun in the summer included working with our friends at Alli, the Alliance of Action Sports owned by NBC Sports and MTV Networks to produce 17 two to three minute segments from the King of Wake tour for web distribution. ChopShop gathered some amazing interviews and high-energy action shots, including a very memorable discussion with Ballin' Bob Soven as he humorously breaks down how he forms the perfect run. Enjoy.

This innovative exhibit features the work of ten influential artists. Harley-Davidson provided the gas tanks to serve as blank canvases for influential artists Alex Pardee, Tara McPherson, Shaun Barber, Christian Clayton, Rob Clayton, Bob Dob, Frank Kozik, David Trulli, Mark Dean Veca, and Oliver Vernon. Shepard Fairey even contributed a piece of work for the auction.

This project was used as an image piece to air on Quiksilver's giant video screen in front of their Times Square Roxy store. The three screens were actually some distance apart so the goal was to create a single piece that incorporated all the screens, but that entertained when only viewing a single screen.

This year's journey was shot in HD and resulted a documentary, an hour-long TV show and 7 webisodes. The ride created by Jeremy Jones showcases beautiful landscapes, epic snowboarding, and hilarious stories from the road.

What better way to depict the features and benefits of Boost Mobile's new i856 cell Phone than with animation? Slider design, high res display, walkie-talkie, music player and many other features were designed and articulated in 3D. Working in a virtual environment, ChopShop was able to optimally showcase the phone without the typical constraints of live-action production.
